Dreaming of Lake Side Painting Days

I'm dreaming of the peaceful contentment that filled my heart while painting on the shore at Charlton Lake.

The light bouncing, rippling on the water created delicate colour shifts that fascinate the eye and mesmerize the mind.

Capturing those ripples and craggy rocks is a meditative process. Looking at the paintings afterward transports me back to those warm memories, fills me once again with contentment and yes, a longing to go back and do it again.

Painting Local, Painting Abroad

One of my dreams as an artist is to go on painting safaris. Oh, we manage a vacation or two every year thankfully. I finally became braver about pulling out my art supplies as I stand on a little spit of safety on a mountain trail or on the public overlook to a grand and gorgeous vista. Now that I've begun to paint en plein air, both abroad and nearer to home, I find myself quite addicted. Thus, the goal to go on trips that are focused on painting, designed to draw me into various environments so that I can, in turn, draw my collectors and patrons into those locations.

Somehow, this is all much more satisfying than merely taking photos.

Meanwhile, when time and energy have not allowed me the pleasure of setting up my kit on location, I resort to photos as record and jumping off points to interpret what inspires me.

The town I in which I live is surrounded by lovely farm land and since my dream would be to live in a country home, I’m drawn to paint my dream.
