🌳 A golden moment on the banks of the Eramosa River, in Rockwood Conservation Area. 🌳 . Honestly, the day was not in itself a warm, bright day. It was Autumn and chilly as we stood amongst the trees at our easels, trying to open our eyes and minds to the natural beauty before us. Clouds chased across the sky and sunlight sparkled on the water between the grey shadows. Standing in the shadows of the trees was cool. . But I felt warm inside: warm from sharing the day with artist friends, warm from the joy of being surrounded by natural beauty, warm when I imagined the history of this place and all the people who trod upon those rocks and dirt between the trees and listened to the geese converse amongst themselves as they floated on the river. . I tried to paint that warmth and joy. I tried to reach inward and outward at the same time using paint to convey the message of love I felt was so important. . ❤ I hope that Love reaches you too. I'll be the first to admit that sometimes Monday can be a very tough day. Those tough Mondays I try to remind myself that I can't afford to categorically hate or moan about 1/7th of my life, tempting as that may be. . I try to remember that what I do today can have a positive impact on many tomorrows. And I just might be able to have a positive impact on someone else's Monday too. Win-win! . Dreaming of the peaceful contentment that filled my heart while painting on the shore at Charlton Lake. The light bouncing, rippling on the water created delicate colour shifts that fascinate the eye and mesmerize the mind. Capturing those ripples and craggy rocks is a meditative process. Looking at the paintings afterward transports me back to those warm memories, fills me once again with contentment and yes, a longing to go back and do it again. ❤🌲🌊🖌
A selfie! Anyone else growing out their grey? I started growing out my natural highlights a couple of years ago because I really liked them. My decision was helped along by developing a sensitivity to hair dyes and feeling petulant about spending time and money at a salon when I'd rather be riding or painting. . When I was a kid I promised myself that when I got old I would have my hair long and naturally silver. . Even as a kid I resisted the status quo of short-styled-coloured-hair older lady. I'm nearly all natural now, though I made the mistake of using a lightening spritz that lifted the colour of my natural dark hair. Ugh. Now I'm growing that out! :) Occasionally I like to use a fun tinted conditioner to brighten things up for a bit. Purple and lilac are my favorites so far. .
